These are the most common questions I’m asked. If you have additional questions feel free to email me directly here.

Snafus are bound to happen! Thanks for your patience and understanding as I strive to provide quality service and products.

HOW DO I BUY AN ORIGINAL?

I create as many paintings as possible in my studios in Davidson, NC and Lillian, AL. Pieces are released as painted or sometimes in a collection.  This will be advertised before hand via social media (@susanrichardsart) and mailing list.  These paintings tend to go pretty quickly, so be sure to be prompt!

HOW WILL MY PRINT ARRIVE?

Original works are printed on high quality canvas unless otherwise specified. The quality is so similar to the original you will see texture such that you want to touch it. Prints arrive sleeved with a sturdy chipboard encased in a protective sleeve or rolled in a shipping tube. Your print can be “stretched” to fit a larger frame by choosing a broad mat board to frame it.

CAN I COMMISSION A PAINTING?

Absolutely! I love collaboration and helping create a piece that is unique for you. Please email me your interest. Availability to create a piece will depend on my availability at time of request. See LINK for all the details about commissioned art.

CAN I PICK UP MY ARTWORK FROM YOUR STUDIO?

Absolutely!  You are welcomed & encouraged to pick up your original artwork in person at my studio in Davidson, North Carolina.  Mark "StudioPickup" at checkout to forgo shipping fees altogether and we will work out a time to meet via email.

HOW IS MY ARTWORK GOING TO BE SHIPPED?

If shipping of your order costs $10+ more than what you paid at checkout, you will receive an invoice that must be paid before your oder is shipped. Thank you for your understanding! Shipping cost are through the roof! My recommendation for the Lake Norman and Charlotte area is studio pick! For folks shopping in the Gulf Coast region, pick up in Elberta, Alabama at Big Fish Trading Company is recommended.

Originals

  • All artwork is wrapped in paper, padded extremely well, and sent in a well-fitting sturdy cardboard box.

  • Most artwork will ship via USPS or UPS, and most packages arrive within 2-4 days (domestic) from time of shipping (includes tracking & insurance). I do not offer international shipment at this time. Please contact me directly if you are interested in international shipping options.

  • If you prefer to ship your large painting (over 36x48 inches) we will use a freight service to expertly handle the painting and deliver it right to your living room ($300-$500). However, studio pick up for these pieces is recommended. Another option is rolled works. We will discuss this after check out.

Prints

  • All prints are handled with the utmost care, packaged beautifully in paper or plastic sleeve.

  • Prints 11x14 and smaller are mailed in a sturdy flat mailer while prints 16x20 and larger are mailed in a thick tube.

  • Shipped via USPS 1st Class Mail or Priority Mail (usually arrives within 1-3 days within the US).

RETURNS

Every order, commission, and sale is handled with care and as much clarity and transparency as possible.  My goal is for you to be completely thrilled with your purchase! I am not able to offer returns but will work on a case by case basis to make sure you are pleased with your piece!

WOULD YOU LIKE A LARGER PRINT?

The sizes listed are typically the largest sizes I am able to create.  However, I will work with you to customize the size of your need. The image quality will be less than ideal if stretched too far. Keep this is mind. Giclee prints are amazing in person! They can literally fool you they look SO MUCH like originals.

If you are interested in filling a larger area of your wall with my artwork (thank you!)  I will offer collector discounts on multiple prints.  Email to discuss that!

FRAMING

I highly encourage framing all your prints and originals.  Not only do they look beautiful framed, but it will help to protect your artwork from wear and dust.  In general, I do not currently offer framing for shipped piece. Please reach out and if I am able to accommodate on a case by case basis I will try. Search your local frame shops for help locally.

GALLERIES & SHOPS

I am honored you would like my artwork on your walls and in your shop! I will work to serve all U.S. states but am currently focusing on supplying the South Eastern states of North and South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama , Florida and Virginia, as well as New York and California.  Please send me an email to discuss your needs and ideas.

WHOLESALE

I partner with Faire to offer wholesale pricing prints, cards, and several home decor items such as journals, napkins, tea towels and more. Please see my Faire site.  Or, send an email to discuss your needs and orders here. In general, I am able to offer 50% off retail price for prints and merchandise and these orders can be placed directly through my website.

INTERIOR DESIGNERS

This is my FAVORITE! I love collaborating with designers. I love it when my artwork lives in a fine looking room!  I offer designers a discount, usually 10-25% on originals and gicleé prints.  I also coordinate renting pieces for staging purposes. Please contact me so we can discuss your needs.  Looking for the perfect piece for that perfect spot? Let’s collaborate a custom order! I strive to offer affordable art that the average consumer can feel good about paying. I do not allow my work to be marked up without consent.

WHO ACTUALLY OWNS THE PAINTING?

I retain all rights to all artwork I create. This includes the rights to the image of sold & commissioned original paintings. I retain the right to make reproductions of any and all artwork I create unless the Collector has purchased the full or partial rights to the artwork (this is in addition to purchasing the original).

The Collector or buyer may not reproduce the artwork in any way without written permission.

If the artwork ends up being reproduced in a magazine or other media I only ask for credit (and congratulations! that means your home is amazingly beautiful! I’d love to see where the pieces are hanging!).

Please let me know if you are interested in purchasing full or partial rights to your painting.  Some collectors may choose to purchase my right to reproduce the artwork to ensure it will never become a print.  I am happy to discuss that with you if you would like!

GIVING

Giving is very near to my heart. A portion of every sale goes to a giving. If you have questions about giving I’d love to share. Reach out.

ENJOY your art!
